Daniel Glover is Captain Hook

placeholder

Daniel has been acting from a very young age, his first production was a one man version of Romeo & Juliet which he performed in his mothers womb with critical success. Soon after he was born things really started to pick up. He has performed all over the UK, in plays, musicals and pantomimes. His latest acting successes were as Simple Simon in Jack and the Beanstalk, Ali Hakim in a production of Oklahoma at CAST in Doncaster, and as the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz at Dearne Playhouse. He is a pantomime expert (or so he says) and is one of Doncaster’s number one comic actors, or so his mother says.

As well as acting Daniel has written countless, plays, pantomimes, sketches and letters and has directed a bucket load of shows too, one reviewer wrote ‘would definitely review again!’

As the old saying goes, ‘those who can, do, will or have. Those who can’t, teach’ - Daniel now teaches acting...

He normally plays pantomime fools but this time has traded in the laughs for a hook as he plays his first pantomime villain. Be ready to boo, hiss and boo some more as he appears as Captain James Hook.

John Russo is Mr Smee

John was born on an alien world to a technologically advanced species that resembles humans. When his world was on the verge of destruction, his father, a scientist, placed John alone in a spaceship that took him to Earth. Raised by the Kent family, he has spent his life concealing his otherworldly origin and used his fantastic powers to do good.

Wait….. That’s actually Superman.

Born in Australia (he came to the UK for the weather) this is John’s first production at the Dearne Playhouse having most recently played the role of “Drake” in Annie at Doncaster’s CAST Theatre. John has a natural flair for comedy and is a professional scene stealer! He is very excited to be working with the cast and crew on this production of Peter Pan and we are delighted to have him with us!

Written by John Russo himself

A vision of beauty...

Our artistic director Joe Hodgkinson is putting on his frock once again and returning to the playhouse stage this summer as Mrs Smee in our summer Pantomime production of Peter Pan!

Book your tickets online here - http://www.dearneplayhouse.co.uk/peter-pan.aspJoe has appeared many times at the playhouse and writes and directs most of our in house productions. in a recent chat with Joe he told us that he loves being part of such a wonderful place as the Playhouse. He said 'There are very few theatres still operating that still have that real homely feel, as though you're walking into someones front room. The atmosphere reaches out and gives you a hug as if to say 'welcome back'! This is why I love it here. To produce and appear in anything in this theatre is amazing but Pantomime has a special place here and with the people of Goldthorpe. The theatre was built in the 1920s for a company of miners who used the building mainly to stage their yearly christmas pantomime and you really do feel like youre following in the footsteps of the wonderful local characters that must have come through the theatre during its long history of producing pantomimes. It has been a pleasure to rewrite my own play version of Peter Pan into a pantomime and direct this talended cast of performers and I, of course, cannot wait to get those frocks on!'

Alternatively you can book via our box office on 01709 894128 between 10am and 2pm, mon - fri.

Don’t miss out and book now!
